Marta Azevedo was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At the age of 18,she won a camera from his parents and fell in love with the world of images.
Only a few years later,S he began to take photography more seriously.
She took some photography courses with the photographers Ivan Lima and Walter Firmo.
She is now specialized in portraits. "I do not shoot pictures, I photograph people"
For over ten years she has been developing the successful Afro-descendant project, Black Faces.
In 2004, she moved to the United States where she lived for eight years and had the opportunity to set up a home studio.
In 2012, she launched the book Black Faces at the Centro Cultural da Justiça Federal, Rio de Janeiro
In 2013, she moved back to Rio de Janeiro.
Marta Azevedo has won national and international prizes with her work Black Faces.
